Restaurant worker Emily Culhane was fired after she choose to go to the Electric Picnic festival over going to her job at the restaurant where she had been working at since April.

Emily asked her boss for 3-days off a fortnight prior to the event and then got a frosty response when she brought it up again last weekend. She said: “When I asked for the time off she said, ‘If you cared about your job you would sell your ticket’.

“I panicked and said, ‘I don’t think I’ll do that’. She just said again that if I cared I would sell them.”

Having already paying 220 pounds for a ticket, Emily didn’t back down but was shocked to be let go.

Her story went viral after it was shared on Electric Picnic’s Facebook page on Tuesday.

And now it seems Emily won’t be unemployed for long as she has now been offered several other jobs.

She commented that she had been offered 4 jobs in total: “One was a bar, one is a cafe and one is a recruitment job.

“[It] just shows you can turn anything into something good in the end.”
