What Are You Hiding From Your Significant Other?

1/19 How truly "not together" my life is. I'm the stable one, the one with a plan, the one with a decent job, the one with bright future prospects, the one without debilitating mental/physical health issues, etc. In truth, my life is held together with duct tape, alcohol, and luck. I'm consistently flying by the seat of my pants and hoping for the best. I need to be her "sure thing" so she has at least one person in the world she can depend on and some days it's very difficult. 3/19 In my free time I write all sorts of fiction, and have self-published several works. They're up for sale on Amazon and other retailers' sites, and I make a couple hundred bucks a month off of them - enough to cover most of my share of the rent. I've told my SO about these, and even showed her some of the romance books I've written. ...I haven't told her that a fair amount of my income also comes from straight-up erotica. TBH, we had a long-distance relationship for a while, and writing smutty little stories was a great way to keep my raging libido in check. And hey, at three bucks a pop, they make great money for the afternoon I spend writing them. I have an outlet for pent-up sexual energy, and I cover my craft beer habit at the same time! Win/win! 4/19 Not really hiding the fact that I drink too much and too often... But I am hiding the fact that I know I'm an alcoholic that needs help; probably rehab. I'm hugely successful career -wise and I don't want to take any time off to deal with this... But thats not really why i wont ask for help. I don't want to risk letting the people I love know that I really shouldn't drink- because I know I will find a way to do it anyways. And that would just make everyone sad. I also dont want anyone to take that away from me cause i dont think i could handle it. so I hide behind the money I make and laugh it off "yeah well I'm functional" but really I'm just a well dressed drunk and it does bother me. 7/19 By far the most taxing, stress inducing, exhausting element of my life is the consistent and persistent need to conceal from my wife how I feel about her. I'm totally in love with her and completely attracted to her, but her libido died and with it 95% of all her affection. Expression of love for her beyond a casual peck makes her feel uncomfortable and pressured to have sex. So I spend 100% of my time with my wife carefully controlling my hands, body, and even my facial expression to be what is from my perspective standoffish and cold. 8/19 We have our first year wedding anniversary in two weeks. I booked a really nice restaurant nearby that she knows is expensive but has a reputation for it's customers being the rich, shallow, mid-20's type, which she won't like. I only booked it so I could show her the email confirmation. Then I secretly cancelled it and booked a night and meal in a country manor which she'll love. Can't wait to surprise her. 16/19 I'm hiding that I'm terrified and second guessing getting married to him. Reasons: 1: He got a DUI under really suspicious circumstances. I don't believe his story, but I tell him I do. 2: He's drinking in excess at home; we've talked about it after I found empty bottles hidden around the house, but it's continuing to happen. He's just gotten better at hiding the bottles, but I still know when he's boozed it up and I don't say anything because I can't find proof. 3: He watches sexy-time movies on Amazon direct on our TV, but it's on my account and I get notices every time. Since there's no porn on Amazon, it ends up being embarrassing pseudo-sexy movies and things that sound hot but end up being something else. 4: He doesn't sleep in bed with me, and instead passes out on the sofa 90% of the time. The only time he comes to bed is when he's boozed up and wants to f***. I'm rapidly losing libido and don't know how to express it. 5: We've been engaged for a while, and we split the bills, even when grocery shopping or at a restaurant. I've started to resent him eating the food I buy after he splits the grocery cart into a 'his and hers' of what we've picked out. I feel like I'm back in college with a shitty roommate. 17/19 That I won a state lottery several years back, and have nearly three million dollars in a managed blind trust that no one knows about. Not friends, not family, not my wife of 14 years. I've heard so many horror stories about how winning the lottery just ruins people's lives, that it scared me into hiding it. The money is being managed nicely, and is slowly growing, even in this economy. So she and I are still working hard, being frugal, and trying to pay off $140k in credit card debt and student loans. Then we'll hopefully go for a nice dinner afterwards in downtown Chicago. Best part is, it's a three-stone setting, the center diamond belonged to my great-grandmother and the two side stones were off of previous ring my mother owns.
